Embroidery – Isn’t that just cross stitch?
From the finely detailed needlework of a 19th-century sampler to an embroidery artist's interpretation of a human skull, a thread can be used to express our heritage, our response to the world around us, to adorn and to transmit across time the love of this artesian craft.
Be amazed at the examples of historical hand embroidery from the Museum’s vast textile collection alongside modern examples from private collections.
