How Nelson Women Paved the Way for Suffrage
125 years ago New Zealand women were vigorously campaigning to achieve the right to vote and would finally win that right in September of 1893.
As part of the celebrations coordinated by the Ministry for Women, Te Minitatanga mō ngā Wāhine the Nelson Provincial Museum is currently developing an exhibition to mark this significant milestone.
The exhibition will recognise New Zealanders and Nelsonians from diverse cultural backgrounds that have contributed to progressing women’s rights.
Details to follow shortly.
