Before people arrived, Aotearoa New Zealand was full of species now vanished, including some of the largest birds that ever lived.
Much of what we know about these amazing extinct species comes from perfectly-preserved bones recovered from caves in the Nelson Tasman region.
Join Dr Mike Dickison for this talk about these fascinating creatures and what is known about their lives and behaviour. A recognised expert in his field, Mike did his PhD research on the evolution of giant flightless birds, and was Curator of Natural History at Whanganui Regional Museum.
Booking not necessary. Koha/donation appreciated.
