Join us for Curator’s Conversation: Taku Rau Tīkumu, a special afternoon inspired by the whakataukī He whetū i te rangi, he whetū ki te whenua – a star in the sky, a star upon the earth.
Led by exhibition curator Hamuera Manihera, alongside guest speakers Robin Slow, Shannel Courtney, and Sophie White, this special event will explore the connections between people, plants, the stars, and the natural world through the story of tīkumu.
The afternoon will bring together perspectives on botany and alpine ecology, weaving traditions, and historical accounts of how tīkumu has been understood and valued across generations.
Whether you are interested in Matariki, mātauranga Māori, weaving, botany, history, or simply curious to learn more, we warmly invite you to join us.
