UNRAVELLING THE SAREE:
Beyond the Fold

TEMPORARY EXHIBITION

Unravelling the Saree: Beyond the Fold is a vibrant exhibition exploring the history, artistry and meaning of one of South Asia's most iconic garments. Featuring sarees from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan alongside photographs and personal stories, it reveals the saree as a living tradition carrying identity, memory and belonging across generations.

Showcasing regional craftsmanship through weave, colour and pattern, the exhibition highlights both historical and contemporary expression.

Developed in collaboration with Cultural Conversations and Nelson Arts Festival, visitors are invited to experience how the saree continues to evolve while strengthening intergenerational ties and enriching our cultural fabric.
