This exhibition invites visitors to explore the museum’s diverse collections and discover the fascinating stories behind a selection of intriguing objects. As the kaitiaki of over 300,000 objects, the Museum preserves the rich social and natural history of Te Tauihu.
Unboxed: The Collection Unpacked takes visitors behind the scenes, offering a rare chance to view objects that have never been on public display.

Mana Māna Kim Ireland

In Mana Māna, local artist Kim Ireland (Tūhourangi, Tapuika, Korean) explores whakapapa and inter-generational strength through uku (clay). Inspired by gourds, Ireland’s work reflects the connection between wāhine and tīpuna wahine, providing guidance and strength in times of te pō (darkness).
