Te Ao Kanapa: The Wonder of Light, Colour, and Pattern

On display until 1 March 2026

Suitable for ECE–Y4

Created by Nelson Provincial MuseumTe Ao Kanapa is a hands-on exhibition designed to spark curiosity and wonder in young learners. Exploring the science of light, colour, and pattern, tamariki will experiment with shadows, reflections, and immersive visual experiences that bring scientific concepts to life through play.

School sessions include dedicated time in the Education Space, where a whole-class activity supports and extends learning in the exhibition. Tamariki will then work in small groups as they move through the interactive exhibition activities, encouraging collaboration, inquiry, and discovery. This experience is ideal for supporting science learning while engaging curious young minds in a creative and memorable way.
